The SEGA VDP YM3438 is a variant of the YM3438 integrated into the VDP of Mega Drive consoles which do not have a dedicated YM2612 chip. While overall similar to the discrete YM3438, this version has the original YM2612 timer behavior restored to ensure compatibility with existing software.
